How Sony can lower PS3 production costs? I’m just wondering. IMHO, they can get rid of wi-fi (it’s good to have it, but you can live without it, wired is better anyway), reduce some expenditures such as zillion dollar wages for it’s top managers, release PSN cards in PAL regions (that’ll give them a lot of $), cheaper plastics and constant work on production line, raw materials and technologies themselves. What do you think? Any ideas? Just curious. Thanx!

3d Printing Technology and Product Testing
Filed Under Top Technology | Comments Off
With the advent of 3D printing technology the perimeters of design and engineering protocols have changed. Traditional protocols for engineering and design work required long periods of time between stages of development. 3D printer technology has dramatically shortened the time necessary between stages. Before the development of 3D printing technology prototyping required many man hours to produce a working prototype and the time necessary was multiplied each time a design change to the prototype had to be made. This added to the cost of product design and delayed products from moving to the next stage of development. 3D printing technology saves design teams a considerable amount to time and energy to produce prototypes and the application of design changes.
3D Printer Prototypes
3D Printer Prototype Testing
3D Printer Prototypes
With 3D printing technology come many advantages for the production of prototypes. From the conceptual to testing stage the technology has improve production speed, cost, and simplicity. A 3D printing system using rapid prototype technology enhances the design process by producing a 3 dimensional model. The 3D printing system produces an actual model that can be seen and manipulated by designers during various stages of the development process which helps engineers to facilitate prototype corrections and enhancements. Compared to a 3D printer, usual methods of producing prototypes is time consuming, costly and has to be repeated even if the smallest change is made to the design. Using a 3D printing system to enhance product designs is more efficient and cuts a great deal of time off the various stages of product development.
A 3D printer helps to reduce the bottom line cost of research and development by facilitating the prototyping process. Product development is a costly and prototype design and production can add considerable expense to a project. Multiple design changes, failure to meet deadlines and retooling only add to the bottom line expense of the production process. Utilizing a 3D printer will enhance the design process and cut costs where design changes have to be made by eliminating many of the costs associated with prototype production. With a 3D printing system no additional retooling or reengineering is necessary, because changes only have to be made in the computer assisted design software program. The whole process of creating, changing and constructing prototypes is enhanced through the use of 3D printing technology.
3D Printer Prototype Testing
3D printing technology assists in the prototype testing phase by producing prototypes in a more efficient and time sensitive manner. Where redesigning, retooling and recreating prototypes took a considerable amount of time, the 3D printing system can have a redesigned prototype ready for the next phase of testing in a much shorter period of time then conventional methods. Testing often requires product redesign and retesting, by having a swift technology like a 3D printer, testing can continue according to schedule without any undue delays and expense. It is not very often that a product is able to survive the testing phase of product development without some kind of design change. The 3D printer allows designers and engineers to utilize the advanced technology to their advantage and create better products.
Product testing is an important stage of new product development and a 3D printing system can enhance the testing phase and make the results more effective. Because a 3D printer reduces testing costs the process can be that much more effective. No one wants to be the one who tests a product after they have spent a substantial amount of money on it. As 3D printing technology continues to advance the product testing and development phase everyone will benefit from the technology. When a company can reduce research and development costs by using 3D printing technology, every one will benefit from the savings. The costs or savings for the testing, designing and producing of new products is always passed on to the purchaser of those products.

My trusty cell phone has died. Is a razor worth it after one with great reception?
Filed Under Top Technology | 1 Comment
We all use verizon because we live in a remote place and can get reception. My husband has a bulky “top-of-the-line” new phone, but doesn’t get as good reception as my old tri-mode did. I understand tri mode technology is dead. Any suggestions? My cell is my life line.

San Diego, Orange County & Palm Desert California Technology Attorney’s Preview of a New Space Drive Technology That May Someday be Here in the Future
Filed Under Top Technology | Comments Off
As a technology and intellectual property attorney in La Jolla, Carlsbad, San Diego, California, Irvine, Newport Beach, Orange County, CA, Rancho Cucamonga, Ontario and the Palm Springs and Palm Desert area, like many who remain hopeful for the future, new developments in technology are constantly catching one’s eye.Â
Â
Whenever current affairs, such as the current economic crisis makes the news seem bleak, an inventor or scientist makes a startling new discovery or obtains a patent that could be of monumental help to mankind.
Â
A recent report has come out that the Chinese are building what was thought to be an impossible space drive, one that might not only open up the possibilities of much more extensive space exploration but which could also transform any type of travel and if achieved. While other scientists are downplaying this announcement as unlikely, while possibly seeking to duplicate their efforts, if this discovery turns out to be accurate, it may provide the Chinese with advantages over other countries if their engine and this new space drive cannot be matched by the U.S.
Â
This EMdrive or electromagnetic relativity drive is thought by other scientists to violate the law of conservation of momentum and has been branded as just another perpetual motion devices that have been disproved time and time again.
Â
However, the researcher behind the Emdrive states that his engine is not a perpetual motion machine and that rather than being at odds with Einstein, relies upon Einstein’s theories being correct.
Â
Another scientist working on the Chinese project has experience with microwave plasma thrusters and it is reported that the engineering principles of building the two engines are similar.
Â
Whether or not this new technology will be proved feasible or not, eventually technologies will be developed that either achieve extended travel with little or no energy usage. While one can certainly see the possibilities for long-range space travel and use of such technology by satellites, they also present hope for the future in daily travel on freeways with a reduction in pollution.
Â
While it is unlikely that we will soon see this technology available at Wal-mart, one can imagine how such technology or extensions of it could make many kinds of travel less expensive and less energy wasteful in the future.
Â
As a patent attorney, one can only hope that other U.S. scientists will study the possibility of this discovery and improve upon it so it can be patented by U.S. interests.
Â
Other researchers today are constantly looking to develop materials that can absorb the energy of an impact without injury to the occupants. If vehicles could someday have impacts and not only absorb the energy but utilize it, the future looks much safer and less expensive for travel.
Â
Combined, travel on roads and freeways would be safer, quieter, more energy efficient and better for the environment so long as such engines and materials could be built cheaply and without using the same level of energy saved by such vehicles.
Â
There’s always a downside though. Imagine if you will, the ability to drive at little or no cost across the state or across the country safely and without pollution in your technologically advanced vehicle. Now imagine if you will, how many other vehicles will be on the same freeways as you.Â

I am trying to make my Xmas list for my parents who are getting pissed because I can’t find a name for the top thing on my list.
I need something that will record me both visually and audibly singing directly to my computer. I found a microphone but that didn’t have a camera and I can’t just use a video camera and that microphone because then two audios will be overlapping.
So does anyone know anything I can use? People on youtube who do that karaoke stuff do it. The ones with good recordings anyway. You can see them and the sound is clear. What is that?

Are cable companies violating federal law by charging a monthly fee for cable cards?
Filed Under Top Technology | 1 Comment
Keyword here is assurance.
Section 629 of the Communications Act, as amended by the Telecommunications Act of 1996 instructs the Commission to “adopt regulations to assure the commercial availability, to consumers . . . of . . . equipment used . . . to access multichannel video programming and other services offered over multichannel video programming systems, from manufacturers, retailers, and other vendors not affiliated with any multichannel video programming distributor.” Additionally, Section 629 states that Commission rules “shall not prescribe regulations . . . which would jeopardize security of . . . services offered over multichannel video programming systems, or impede the legal rights of a provider of such services to prevent theft of service.”
Again, keyword here is assure. By charging the same 4.95 monthly fee as a set-top box, and not offering true two way capability, how are Cox, Verizon, and Comcast assuring anything. They shun cable-card technology, and if you want a tivo with dual capability, you still have to pay the cable companies $5.00 per month x2 cards ($10.00) plus tivo’s fees. By charging these fees, “consumer assurance” is priced out.
Class action anyone?
